Finals Action!

Roselle Catholic 50 - Woodbridge 45 - Consolation Game

In the consolation game, Roselle Catholic took 3rd with their tight victory over the Barrons 50-45. Margaret Henn (21pts/6rebs/1stl) and Leticia Torres' (15pts/16rebs/1stl) was too much for the shorthanded Barrons. Henn, who didn't play till halfway thru the first quarter made her presence felt immediately with 6 straight points pulling RC back into the game with the Barrons but it was Letitia Torres' dominance of the boards that was the difference. Torres' 16 rebounds kept Woodbridge at bay all night. Yomaira Mejas' (19pts/5rebs/1blk/3stls/1asst) and MaryLynn Skarzenski's (16pts/7rebs/1blk/2stls/5assts) wasn't enough for the Barrons in the loss.

Finals
East Brunswick 62 - Perth Amboy 49

In a game that pitted #1 East Brunswick against #2 Perth Amboy, Jessica Cambell (19pts/7rebs/1blk/3stls/1asst), the league MVP, led Bears' with a monster effort. She had plenty of help though with a tremendous TEAM effort on defense by the Bears, shutting down the explosive Panther offense. EB held Perth Amboy's two top guards, Amanda Sepulveda (18pts) and Jeanette Ortiz (10pts) in check. But in the end it was the Bears' dominating defense that won this game. Solid efforts by Erin Whalen (12pts/4rebs2stls), Megan Mayo (12pts/1reb/1stl) and Anna Chesknova (4pts/12rebs) also added to the victory.

Quarter/Semi-Finals Action!

Roselle Catholic 49 - Cranford 31

Margaret Henn (9pts/6rebs/1stl) and Krystal White (9pts/5rebs/2stls/1asst) led the way for RC in Quarterfinal action as Roselle Catholic downed the Cougars of Cranford. Lisa Levands had 9 points for Cranford in the loss.

East Brunswick 37 - Colonia 24

Jessica Cambell's (9pts/5rebs/1blk/1stl) helped EB past the Patriots 37-24 in other quarterfinal action. Megan Mayo (8pts)_ and Erin Whalen (7pts) also contributed to the win but once again the Bears TEAM defense held Colonia to just 24pts. Tiara Gaines had 7pts for the Patriots.

Perth Amboy 62 - Woodbridge 47 (Semi-Final)

Perth Amboy knocked out Woodbridge's hopes to get to the Finals in their victory over the Barron's 62-47 in the early Semi-Final game. Amanda Sepulveda's (23pts/3rebs/1stl/2assts) and Jeanette Ortiz's (13pts/7rebs/4blks/3stls/3assts) all around effort led the Panthers. Lisandra Triscari (12pts4rebs) and MaryLynn Skarzenski (12pts/8rebs/1blk/4stls/5assts) kept the Barrons close but the effort wasn't enough in the loss.

East Brunswick 45 - Roselle Catholic 35 (Semi-Final)

Megan Mayo's (14pts/5rebs/3stls/2assts) pushed the Bears into the Finals as they beat a tough Roselle Catholic, 45-35. The Bears showed why they were the #1 seed as they shut down the Lions to close out the win. Jessica Cambell (10pts/3rebs/1stl/1asst) helped EB with a solid effort. Krystal White had 8pts for RC.

Bishop Ahr 45 - Jerzee Heat 32

Erin Mulvey's (23pts/6pts/2stls/1asst) was just too much for the #7 Heat to handle as the #10 Trojans marched past the Heat 45-32 in first round playoff action. Mulvey's 13 2nd half points put the game out of reach for the Heat. Jordan Confessore had 11pts for Jerzee Heat. Bishop Ahr moves on to the Quarterfinals.

Woodbridge Over Sayreville

The #6 Woodbridge Barrons MaryLynn Skarzenski (13pts/6rebs/9stls/6assts) and Daria Bialik's (10pts/6rebs/4stls/2asst) stole the show as the duo had 13 combined steals in the first round game over the #11 seed Sayreville Bombers. Erin Dusko (12pts/3rebs/2stls) and Holly Miara (12pts/13rebs/1blk/1stl) led the Bombers in the loss. Woodbridge moves on to the Quarterfinals.

Colonia 33 - Edison 24

#9 Colonia blew past #8 Edison as Tiffany Morgan's (8pts/6rebs) led the way for the Patriot's. The Patriots outrebounded the Eagles 30-17! Amanda Geoghan had 10pts for the Eagles. Colonia moves onto the Quarterfinals.

Roselle Catholic 51 - Sayreville (A) 32

# 5 Roselle Catholic's Letitia Torres' (14pts/11rebs1stl/3assts), Francesca Garay (12pts/13rebs/3blks/2stls/1asst) and Margaret Henn (10pts/7rebs/3stls/2assts) were huge in RC's victory over #12 Sayreville (A). The big 3 combined for 36pts and 31 rebs in the win. Cailiegh Giovenco led the Bombers with 11pts. Roselle moves onto the Quarterfinals.

Cranford 37 - Linden 12

#4 Cranford, led by balanced scoring, beat #13 Linden 37-12. Lindsay Dolan (9pts/3rebs), Rebecca Flanagan (7pts/6rebs) led all scorers for the Cougars. Cranford moves onto the Quarterfinals.

Second Round Action!

Perth Amboy 68 - Bishop Ahr 55

Amanda Sepulveda (27pts/4rebs/2stls) and Jeanette Ortiz (22pts/8rebs/3stls/4assts) combined for 57 of #2 Perth Amboy's 68 points, to pull the Panthers past the #10 Trojans. Bishop Ahr kept pace with Perth Amboy throughout the game taking leads twice in the second half led by Erin Mulvey's 22pts but persistance of PA's two standout guards was too much in the end. Perth Amboy moves on to the Semi-Finals.

Woodbridge Over South Plainfield

#6 Woodbridge's Yomeira Mejas (20pts/3rebs) and MaryLynn Skarzenski (16pts/8rebs/6stls/1asst) led the Barron's past #3 South Plainfield 54-51 in an overtime victory. Danielle Ardnt scored 19 first half points for the Tigers but was held scoreless in the second half but Blaire Houston (12pts/2rebs/1asst) picked up the slack with 11 second half points. In overtime Mejas' foul shooting put the game away.

Playoffs Are Set!

Perth Amboy 54 - Cranford 43

Amanda Sepulvada's (29pts/3rebs/5stls/4assts) put her over the top to be the Spring-SlamFest's leading scorer for the season. Sepulvada's huge game nailed down the win over Cranford giving Perth Amboy the 2nd seed for the playoffs. Cranford sealed the 4th seed moving South Plainfield into the 3rd seed with the loss.

Jerzee Heat 45 - Sayreville (A) 34

14pts and 9rebs by Kaykia Killian along with 1blk, 3stls, 1asst was the right ingredients for the Heat to burn the Bombers 45-34. Lorianne Miklaszewski had 10pts for the Bombers in the loss.

Bishop Ahr 46 - Roselle Catholic 39

Erin Mulvey (16pts/9rebs) and Tina Stawinski's late game 3pters (3) (12pts/6rebs/1asst) pushed the Trojans past a tough Lions team. Kristen DeJesus (12pts/6rebs/2stsl/3assts) and Margaret Henn's (12pts/4rebs/1blk/2stls) was not enough for the Lions to pull this one out. With the loss, Roselle Catholic locked the 5th seed.

Jerzee Heat Over Bishop Ahr

Alexis DeFazio's (13pts/9rebs/1stl/5assts) was just enough to help the Jerzee Heat pull past the Trojans 39-31 in the first game of the evening, she wasn't alone in the effort as Kimberly Hannum also added (10pts/4rebs/1st) for the Heat. Erin Mulvey's (17pts/3reb) of Bishop Ahr was the game's leading scorer.

Roselle Catholic Over South Plainfield

Roselle Catholic came back to pull out the win over the Tigers 27-24 in a hottly contested battle last night. Margaret Henn (8pts/7rebs/1blk/1stl/1asst) and Fran Garay (8pts/2rebs/1blk/2stls) led the Lions over the Tigers. Danielle Ardnt had 9pts for South Plainfield.

Cranford Over Bishop Ahr

Lisa Levonds' (10pts/5rebs/1stl) propelled the Cougars over Bishop Ahr in the second of a doubleheader for the Trojans. Erin Mulvey again, led Bishop Ahr with (14pts/12rebs) and Sarah Burrows also added (4pts/13rebs) in the loss.

Perth Amboy Over Sayreville

Kitora Jones' (18pts/4rebs/2stls/2assts) was all that was needed to destroy the Bombers last night in a blowout win 59-28. Perth Amboy had 4 players in double figures Yasmin Munoz (10pts) Jeanette Ortiz (10pts) and Amanda Sepulvada (11pts). Holly Mejer led all scorers with (19pts) for Sayreville.

East Brunswick clinched the #1 seed tonight with their victory over Colonia 42-22. Erin Whalen (9pts/4rebs/1asst) and Michelle Mariski (9pts/2rebs/3stls/1asst) led the Bears in the win.

Cranford 26 - Edison 24

East Brunswick remained on top with a blowout win over Edison last night, 49-20. The Bears were led by an outstanding effort by Megan Mayo (20pts/3rebs/4stsl) with help from Lauren Petriello (9pts/4rebs/1stl/3assts) and Erin Whalen (9pts/2rebs/1asst). Kate Shutz had (8pts/9rebs) for Edison in the loss.

Colonia 42 - Sayreville 20

The South Plainfield Tigers destroyed the shorthanded Cranford Cougars 46-17 in a one-sided game. Danielle Ardnt led all scorers with 13pts/5rebs. South Plainfield also moved ahead of Cranford into 2nd place with the win moving the Cougars to 3rd.

Woodbridge 41 - Bishop Ahr 35

Yomiera Mejas (15pts/5rebs/5stls/1asst) was just enough to lead the Barrons over the Trojans tonight 41-35 in a hottly contested game. Campbell Hits For 25!!!

East Brunswick 54 - Jerzee Heat 47

East Brunswick came all the way back to pull out a 54-47 victory over the Heat thanks to the efforts by Jessica Campbell (25pts/11rebs/3stls/1asst) who was the key to the comeback. The Heat pulled out by a six point lead early in the first half and were leading 20-17 at the half. Then the Bears mauled their way back as the whole team started scoring besides Campbell. Good rebounding efforts from Michelle Mariski (7pts/7rebs) and Kristi Lang (4pts/8rebs) helped the Bears to the win. Alexis Defazio had 10pts and 9rebs for the Heat in the loss

Central Jersey 44 - Cranford 38

Kristina Danella (10pts/8rebs/2blks/1asst), Hannah Mertz (10pts/4rebs/2blks) and Candice Green (10pts/1reb/1stl) led the CJ Hawks past Cranford 44-38 making them the only undefeated team left in this year's Spring-SlamFest. Amanda Porter had 8 pts for Cranford in the loss.

In what started as a back and forth battle, turned into a rout as South Plainfield outlasted Sayreville 49-28. Amanda Sepulveda (23pts) and Jeanette Ortiz (18pts) combined for 41 points to lead the Panthers, as they roared past the Patriots tonight 52-33! Cassandra Jimenez (9pts/2rebs/2stls/1asst) also had a solid game. Teiara Gaines (9pts/4rebs/2stls/1asst) and Nnemaka Iben (8pts/10rebs/1blk/2stls) had nice efforts for the Patriots in defeat.

Jerzee Heat 40 - Woodbridge 25

Woodbridge started out to a 12-8 lead but the Heat came back smokin' as they put away the Barrons 40-25. Courtney Harris (11pts/3rebs/1blk/1stl) led the Heat. The Barrons were led by MaryLynn Skarzinski with 7pts.

Balanced scoring by Amber Hartmann (9pts/10rebs/3stls), Coral Willis (9pts/1reb/1stl) and furoscious rebounding by Danielle Ardnt (5pts/8rebs/3stls/4assts) and Hartmann (10rebs) led the way past a pesky Bombers squad. Megan Zakrzewski (10pts/10rebs/4blks) had an outstanding game to keep it close in the loss.

Perth Amboy 54 - Edison 31

Kitora Jones' (14pts/4rebs/2assts) and Kathy Batista (10pts/2rebs/3stls) were too much for the Eagles tonight. Perth Amboy swiped the ball 18 times tonight to take the big lead and put the Eagles away 54-31. Tiffany Smith had (9pts/12rebs/3blks/1asst) in the loss for Edison.

MaryLynn Skarzinski (15pts/3rebs/2blks/2stls) led the Barrons over GMC Red Division rival Sayreville tonight. Bella Concepcion also added 10pts/2rebs in the win. Erin Dusko had 14pts for the Bombers in the loss.

The Cranford Cougars edged out the Jerzee Heat in the Spring-SlamFest opening night game when Rebecca Flanagan (10pts, 2 rebs) grabbed a missed shot by her teammate and laid it in at the buzzer giving Cranford it's first win over the Jerzee Heat - 33-34. Lindsay Dolan also added 7pts and 13 rebs! Jordan Confessore had 11pts in the loss.
