Finals
Action! |
Roselle
Catholic 50 - Woodbridge 45 - Consolation Game
In
the consolation game, Roselle Catholic took 3rd
with their tight victory over the Barrons 50-45.
Margaret Henn (21pts/6rebs/1stl) and Leticia Torres'
(15pts/16rebs/1stl) was too much for the shorthanded
Barrons. Henn, who didn't play till halfway thru
the first quarter made her presence felt immediately
with 6 straight points pulling RC back into the
game with the Barrons but it was Letitia Torres'
dominance of the boards that was the difference.
Torres' 16 rebounds kept Woodbridge at bay all
night. Yomaira Mejas' (19pts/5rebs/1blk/3stls/1asst)
and MaryLynn Skarzenski's (16pts/7rebs/1blk/2stls/5assts)
wasn't enough for the Barrons in the loss.
Finals
East Brunswick 62 - Perth Amboy 49
In
a game that pitted #1 East Brunswick against #2
Perth Amboy, Jessica Cambell (19pts/7rebs/1blk/3stls/1asst),
the league MVP, led Bears' with a monster effort.
She had plenty of help though with a tremendous
TEAM effort on defense by the Bears, shutting
down the explosive Panther offense. EB held Perth
Amboy's two top guards, Amanda Sepulveda (18pts)
and Jeanette Ortiz (10pts) in check. But in the
end it was the Bears' dominating defense that
won this game. Solid efforts by Erin Whalen (12pts/4rebs2stls),
Megan Mayo (12pts/1reb/1stl) and Anna Chesknova
(4pts/12rebs) also added to the victory.
