#4 Plainfield 51 - #3 Immaculata 48

After falling behind by 14 points, Immaculata's disruptive defense and relentless drive brought the Spartans all the way with 1:33 left. Hey wait a minute, this sounds just like the last game! It was a carbon copy except this time Plainfield held on to win.

Plainfield's Aquil Smith (12pts/3rebs) hit some big shots during this game but it was Raphiq Carnegie's (9pts/1reb/1blk/3stls/1asst) clutch two free throws with :03.46 seconds left in the game that iced it for Plainfield. Anthony Nelson (11pts/3rebs/3assts) and Jerrell Thompson (8pts/3rebs/1stl/2assts) were named Co-League MVP's!

Just a note, the last six champions of this league have gone on to win, at the minimum, a state sectional title!

Good luck to all the boys and teams that participated in this year's program and I would personally like to thank all the parents, staff and coaches that made this league once again, the best basketball in the tri-state area!

Thank you and have a great season,

Bob Gaydos

North 92 - South 90 - OT

The Boys game was an exciting game that took overtime to determine who was going to be the winner but the North finally prevailed as game MVP Ryan Bacon (20pts/8rebs/2blks/2stls/2assts),of Columbia HS, led the North. The SlamDunk Contest was full of highlights as balls were flying off the walls, backboards, one player was blindfolded (Tahir Raza) and we even had a player take his shirt off while going up for a dunk! It finally came down to Andre Rose of Plainfield and Marcus Blakely of Metuchen. Blakely threw down the most crowd pleasing dunk as he flew over a standing player and slammed it down but it was Andre Rose who's 360 degree dunk that won the event. There was some calculating confusion and both players received awards for the event.

3Pt Champion was Mike Tamaiko of Immaculata shot lights out and slipped by Metuchen's Nick Storts in the final round.
